I have been waiting for this gif my entire life.
Spike Lee / The Dolly Shot (by Richard Cruz)
“What I love most about this video is how it neutralizes whatever observation one might have about the appropriateness or inappropriateness of a shot in a given Spike Lee film by placing them all together in a single short video, so that the shots’ inventiveness, showiness and beauty take center stage, and you’re no longer watching characters in a story, but living sculptural objects driving through a series of spectacular and sometimes haunting settings.”
FOREVER AND ALWAYS AMEN.
“Free Country? I should fuck you up for saying that.”
so…SPIKE LEE TWEETED ME. (!!!)
I am interpreting this to be a very definite, well-considered maybe to him coming to be a judge at our student film festival…#GetSpikeToCUNUFF
hmmm, I’m listening
…Spike Lee is teaming with writer John Ridley, Doug Ellin (creator of Entourage) and Mike Tyson to produce a drama series project for HBO titled Da Brick.
To be scripted by Ridley and directed by Spike, the series is described as “a contemporary exploration of what it means to be a young, black man in supposedly post-racial America.”
…Da Brick is reportedly “loosely inspired” by Mike Tyson’s youth, and will be set in present-day Newark, NJ (aka “brick city,” for those in da know; hence, Da Brick)…

…filmmaker Tyler Perry responded to director Spike Lee’s consistent criticisms of his movies by saying this: “Spike can go straight to hell! You can print that,” Box Office Magazine reported on its website.
Perry’s heavy-set matriarchal alter ego, which he made famous through his series of movies and stage plays, has never been one to mince words. But Perry himself had chosen take the high road in light of Lee’s statements about Perry’s films and television shows, which he said were “coonery and buffoonery.”
But this time, Perry did not bite his tongue, striking back at the perpetual New York Knicks fan during a press conference to promote his upcoming movie “Madea’s Big Happy Family.”
…”I am sick of him talking about me, I am sick of him saying, ‘this is a coon, this is a buffoon’…he talked about Whoopi, he talked about Oprah, he talked about me, he talked about Clint Eastwood. Spike needs to shut the hell up!”
